Solfeggietto Guitar Lesson: Main Theme

The main theme in Solfeggietto lasts four complete measures. This theme is recurrent throughout the Solfeggietto guitar tabs and should be the easiest to memorize.

Learn this theme before moving on!

'B7' To 'E' Minor Section

This next section includes some small sweep picking patterns across the 'Dm', 'G', and 'C' chords. The most important thing to note here is where the downbeat falls, as it can throw you off! I have marked them with accent marks.

Half way through measure three I have marked some convenient left hand numbers to keep you from getting all tangled up! Also, the finger tapping in measure four helps ease the giant interval leaps a bit. I use right hand ring finger hybrid picking to facilitate the tapping as well. These special hybrid picked notes are marked with the letter 'A' to indicate right hand ring finger.

Solfeggietto guitar lesson -- Minor-to-Major Sweeps

The next section in our Solfeggietto guitar lesson is made of a little three string sweep picking pattern that switches from minor to major. First 'E' minor to major, then 'A' minor to major.

'D' Minor Section

Again, the 'D' minor section reflects the pattern used in previous keys. This time only half of the theme is played, but it's played twice in a row. Then, you will get a break from solid sixteenth notes!

Solfeggietto guitar tabs -- Weird Chromatic Break Thing

Neoclassical guitar is known for chromatics and harmonic minor modes. Here is their all-star appearance in Solfeggietto! This is the only place where you get a break from straight sixteenths. Make sure you wiggle the sixth string when you hit those half notes!

Solfeggietto Ending, Part 1

The ending reminds me of something Kirk Hammett would have done in the old days of Metallica. It consists of a two string pattern with hammer ons and pull offs. It's kind of a walk-down deal, in which the second string note walks down chromatically where possible. Each pattern outlines a chord. The chord that is outlined is written above the tabs.

Solfeggietto Ending, Part 2

The very end of the song revisits the main theme one last time, but the last bit is altered to a harmonic minor phrase. Watch for that last scale and you may take your final bow on an A5 power chord!
