The easiest, most effective way to learn lead guitar is with these easy pentatonic blues licks using the popular pentatonic blues scale! This easy scale is one you must know! You can hear it in lead guitar solos all over rock music.
Although it is called the "blues" scale, the minor pentatonic scale is used just as much in rock music as it is in the blues genre. The addition of the "blue note" to the regular pentatonic scale is where it gets its name.

These REALLY easy lead licks are repeatable patterns that you can use in your guitar solos. This kind of phrasing is "a la Freebird." Each of these "easy" licks is played from the root position box from above.
