See how the notes work their way up in a diagonal line? Well, that's all a scale really is -- it's a pattern based on a series of notes.
If you can play the example above, you can play any guitar scale! (Not so hard after all, huh?)
Now, let's move the exact same pattern over two frets, like this:
Viola! A brand new guitar scale using the exact same shape and pattern!
Are you having trouble "seeing" it? Here is a hint: think more in terms of finger patterns and less about actual fret numbers.
But wait! Aren't guitar scales more complicated than that? Well, not really. It's just that they can be BIGGER!
