Intro Power Metal Riff

The song Doorman starts out with this power riff that is played by a Mr. Andrew Fry during our LIVE performances, (which you already know because you have seen us play live on several occasions and LOVE us and know ALL the song lyrics and sing them EVERY DAY!).

Solo 1:

Meanwhile, Sir Nathan McDonald (that's me) prepares for the first guitar solo attack. This is an easy one, so prop your foot up on the nearest monitor and rock out with authority.

Verse Campbell's Chunky Riff:

chunky soup MMM, SCHTANKY UND HEARTY!

The verse is chunky, so mute all your strings across the neck down by the nut like I mention in the video so it doesn't sound all gay like the MIDI sound file.

Chorus Riff:

The chorus riff for Doorman is mainly open power chords with a disgusting tritone movement to the sixth fret - make's ya wanna puke don't it? Where you palm mute is critical, so look closely at the tabs for these important indications.

Solo 2:

Just after the first chorus, you get to go right into the next guitar solo. Again, it is simple, diatonic, and effective.

Lead Fill:

During the second chorus, I begin throwing in this unison bend lick instead of jamming on the usual F (E natural) power chord:

The Bridge

At this point in the song, we begin to introduce the up and down wave of dynamics which Halo Stereo is so known for. I'll separate the bridge riffs into three sections: the medium-quiet part, the REALLY quiet part, and the LOUD ROCK part.

Bridge Part 1 (medium dynamics):

Solo 3:

The third and final solo is my personal favorite because it implements weird notes outside of the pentatonic blues scale and has a quick blues run using sextuplets.

Outro:

Finally, finish off on a big bang climax and don't worry if your bends are slightly out of tune (playing guitar with a floating tremolo comes at a price, no?). This section is more about presentation than perfection anyway.
